Take a Super Ball (for those of you old enough to remember what a Super Ball is) and stand in a room with concrete walls, ceiling and floor. Now bounce that super ball as hard as you can and watch it bounce from surface to surface. That’s kind of how I envision this blog. Randomness will be the theme, but God will be the center. So, no matter how wacky or serious the topics are, I hope that in some way we will have ministered to your soul.
I am truly blessed with a wonderful and beautiful wife of 25 years, a son in graduate school, a daughter just beginning her college career and a dog who is too smart for her own good.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. It can evoke moods and emotions, stir the spirit and effect me like no other art form. However, the most important thing music does is minister to my soul.
I heard the song below at a time when I was really feeling far away from God. A non-Christian friend of mine took me to a concert by Greg X. Volz. Greg had just embarked on a solo career after having left the Christian rock group Petra. The song is called, “Will You Take Me Back?”
That song touched me in a very profound way that night as it still does today. God was meeting me where I was and he used my non-Christian friend to do it. Awesome…
The last chorus does it to me every time.
“Will You Take Me Back?”
Mike SchmitzTook a lot of courage
To talk to You today
And there’s something else
I really can’t define
Like to burn all my bridges
But I can’t seem to find a light
I’ve got to know
Just where You draw the lineWill You take me back
Will You take me back
Didn’t know what I was losing
Till it was already gone
And I realize
I never should have let You goI want to feel You with me
The way I used to do
And get carried off
By all the things You say
But I can’t take it for granted
We could have it all again
Though it’s what I’ve always hoped for
When I prayHow do You rebuild
What used to reach so high
When rubble covers
Everything in sight
But You can make a way
Where there just is no way
Please don’t leave me
Like a blind man in the nightWill You take me back
Will You take me back
Through the tears my eyes are opened
And I just have to laugh
As I realize You never let me go
As I realize You never let me goThis is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life… Underneath are the everlasting arms.

First off….Petra was only petra with greg …
second I’m glad to be checking out your site…and added you to my blogroll
Amen to that. Never paid much attention to them after he left. Mr. Volz had such an incredible set of pipes! He’s not too shabby these days either.
petra beyond belief and unseen power were good, but they are the only schlitt CDs that were…
Best petra CD ever was the impossible to find first one called…Petra…sounded like the alman brothers…close second is captured in time and space
Petra sounding like the Allman Bro’s. Wow, I bet that’s interesting. I’ll have to see if I can dig one up somewhere.
David,
My name is Fred McKinnon, I’m a Worship Leader, Pianist, Producer, and yes … a blogger! (see http://www.fredmckinnon.com) I’d love for you to come checkout my blog sometime, learn more about me, etc. I also have the Highest Praise Worship Podcast (http://www.highestpraise.com/podcast) and the Worship Interludes Podcast (www.worshipinterludes.com)
Anyway, if you have the time, I need help if possible … I’m boldy going and approaching some great leaders/bloggers, etc., about this:
I’ve launched a site called “The Worship Community” at:
http://www.theworshipcommunity.com/forums/index.php?referrerid=1
It’s a forums site for discussion of worship, worship leadership, worship music, Technologies for Worship, etc. I’m hoping to get a huge swell of new users in the community through the network/subculture of worship/pastoral leadership bloggers, music lovers, and fellow Christians.
We’re doing a full-blown referral contest right now - for those people who come and Register (free) … you get a special “/?referrerid= …” URL. We’re running the contest to get people to come … a “qualified referral” is one who has posted 5+ threads or replies by June 30. The prizes are:
1st: $50 iTunes Gift Cert
2nd: $30 iTunes Gift Cert
3rd: $20 iTunes Gift Cert
I’m paying that out of pocket, and will be investing in some email marketing blasts to Worship Musician, Worship leader, and ChristianMusic magazine subscribers as well.
Would love for you to check it out, and if you feel it’s worthy of mention, blog it … and of course, hope you’ll join and introduce yourself - use your referral URL and you could win!
Thanks again!

I found this site by Googling… are you a former employee of Cimarron Software? If so, hello! If not… sorry.
Very nice article. I still have my Wham-O! Super Ball from the sixties in my dresser drawer!
